Great input P'Jade.
If we have a RIGHT relationship with Jesus, we will never blame on God.

As I understand we don't blame our parents when we get into a car accident due to the car was given by them.
Likewise, bad situation is for us to grow and have more deeper understanding with life.
Our God is never mean to hurt us because the Bible said that
father never give their children a stone when they asked for a bread.

I have seen many have a wrong relationship which is asking for something
to fulfill their desire and claim that God has given them.
Then when they have to lose it, they pray hard to God and
even worse...blame on God!

Loving God in a hard situation is not easy indeed,
but with the right relationship all things are possible in God's hand.

The key is not just having a Relationship, but the RIGHT understanding of
our Relationship with our God.

Here is a new wisdom from Fred this week jah... Laughing

My Personal Creed

Purpose: To determine what I will become knowing I will become the sum of my choices, and my decisions.

I Will

1) Respect truth by searching for it and accepting it from any source.

2) Look for the essence of matters as the elegance of life.

3) Endeavor to pray honestly about any subject, assuming God already knows.

4) Expect nothing but what I earn, but accept gifts gratefully.

5) Own myself. Thereby I can contribute my uniqueness to life. I will concentrate on my uniqueness rather than what I like to do, or what pays the most. If my uniqueness if lost, then there has been no compelling reason for my having lived. I will have failed to contribute my piece to life’s jigsaw puzzle.

6) Limit extension self-knowledge to my most productive strengths and destructive weaknesses.

7) Construct concepts for my thinking and actions so as to minimize large mistakes and give consistency to my living.

8 ) Relax in the sovereignty of God.

9) Decide issues of life by faith based on biblical authority.

10) Respect money as a tool, never an idol.

11) Endeavor to accept my rightful responsibility because it is right, not necessarily because I like it.

12) Realize my acts affect others and have ripple effects.

13) Accept human imperfection as a reality – but never an excuse.

14) Seek profitable and interesting experiences in areas of life that will continually broaden me.

15) Turn all experiences into knowledge and knowledge into wisdom.

16) Live so that “the best is yet to be” by attending to maturity, health, relationships, and capital.

I Will Not:

1) Build an unreal image which enslaves me or alienates me from others.

2) Make a junkyard of my old age through bad decisions.

3) Sacrifice self-respect, health, family, relationship with God for business success.

This week think deeply about:
1) What is my personal creed?
2) Which I will penetrated my heart?
3) Which I will not needs some attention?

Words of Wisdom: “I will become the sum of my choices, and my decisions.

Scripture’s Words of Wisdom: “…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.” Colossians 1: 9-10 (NET Bible)

My personal creed is 15) Turn all experiences into knowledge and knowledge into wisdom.
I feel that life is full of up and down. We can not let the problem pull us down. turn them into an oppertunity to grow.

I also want to 16) Live so that “the best is yet to be” by attending to maturity, health, relationships, and capital.

Least of my attention would be 10) Respect money as a tool, never an idol. I want to have more of toys than money. Smile

The influence of Maxey Jarman on Fred was well-known to those who knew him. He often spoke of him and wrote frequently of the lessons he learned. In 1976 Fred dictated a memo titled “MJ and Character.” Share one of Fred’s observations this week.
_________________________________

Fred's observation to his friend, MJ: I have often wondered about the real motivation for character building. I’m really not sure, and I think there are multiple answers. I do believe character building is like any other aspect of personal development. It starts with the genuine desire to have the real thing, not just the image of it. Too often we have the reputation, but not the reality. Anxiety and secrecy is a price we pay for this hypocrisy.

One motivation you have demonstrated to me is scriptural obedience. And it is not just obedience to the scripture, but to the Lord of the scripture. There is a subtle difference. If it is only the printed word, we have the opportunity to interpret it as a static document. If we accept it as the written, inerrant word of the Living Lord, then we must ask His insight rather than our own interpretation.

Do I make sense? I feel it, but may not say it so you can feel it as I do. However, I believe you already feel as I do and know what I am trying to say ----words are so wooden at times.

I use “obedience” as a positional word. So often the maturely obedient and the self-righteous do the same things…go through the same procedures, but with an entirely different motivation. Consequently, their attitudes differ greatly.

Legalists become the master of the law in its application and the servant in its fulfillment. The law becomes their god while appearing to serve God. But they miss. (YJ: e.g. Pharisees, Sadducees)

Character development includes a spirit of belief which is part of the act of belief. Therefore, it follows if one is to use scriptural obedience for character building that one must be a student of scripture. If our nation is losing its character as so many fear, then I believe it must be partly due to a lessening of scriptural knowledge and study, as well as scriptural respect.
(YJ: some of new American generation use their freedom God originally gave to our nation to deny His Word, since 1776, our forefathers established the foundation of our freedom country with God's word, but now... more people ignore this truth and lavishly take away His living Word out of their daily lives)

This week think about:
1) What is my view of scripture?
2) What is my personal reason for building character?
3) Who is mentoring me?

Words of Wisdom:
“If our nation is losing its character, as so many fear, then I believe it must be partly due to a lessening of scripture knowledge and study.”

Words of Scripture:
“We also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, hope.” Romans 5:2 (NET Bible) (One of Fred’s favorite verses)

Here is my answer...

1) What is my view of scripture?
Scripture is
We are obedience to God, who made the scripture for us to follow,
not just the law itself.

2) What is my personal reason for building character?
It is built-in our spirit, mind and body that we have to stride forward(growing).

Before I used to think that everything grow by itself.
If our body can grow by itself, why can't our spirit?
But now I have more understanding that it is a matter of what we feed in.

Our body need food, water, exercise and rest. we will die if we go without food.
So, baby wont' grow by themselve, somebody got to feed them.

Our mind need learning, thinking, and memorizing.
Without practising, our brain cell will eventually lose its function.
Example would be those who memorize verse regularly will do very well in memorize any other things.

And the lastly, spirit need obedience and discipline to grow.
Character will reflect how obedience we are.
The more obedience to God, the more humble we will be...more like Christ.

So, my personal reason for building up the character would be
to please God and at the same time, allow myself to grow.

3) Who is mentoring me?
You! P'Thom, KJ and many other christian who I came across.
It is the grace of God who has sent you to be my mentor as well as
me who will be a mentor to other.

Today enlightment :
Why should we welcome God's discipline?

The old saying "No pain, no gain" has a rather calculated, if not masochistic, ring to it - as though pain is an obligation. But there is a big difference between going out of our way to attract opposition and recognizing that there are many Christians who have given their very lives for the Gospel. But the truth of the matter is that training sometimes hurts. This discomfort the writer calls "discipline". And this is important; we must differentiate between those random events which overtake us and God's intentional steps to make us better. In this regard "discipline" is the exacting demands of our learning. This "discipline" is for our good and to make us holy, and will eventually bring us great rewards.

Incredibly, though, God himself is involved in our learning process. He doesn't develop us by remote control; he is personally involved. And what is even more important is that our trainer is our Father! The point is inescapable: we are his children and he is our Father. When he disciplines us, it is never child abuse. It is meant to make us grown-ups in grace.

good insight article!

True. discipline is not an easy path that spingle with rose leaves... it's an particularly tough path for each one of us to walk through it, also, it's a path that God creates a differentiated way for individual to develop differential characteristics in terms of spiritual growth. I determine some requirements, which are an essential function of being disciplined by God as follows:

Discipline's requirements:

1) genuine obidence attitudes to follow God's commands--this charactor can be built through faith--rooted deeply in God's word.

2) a faithful heart, which widely open for the Holy Spirit to leads and guides us through the tough path and learn to rely on God's grace alone.--understanding of God's authority and His power over our lives.

3) a perseverance to follow the truth without obligation and endure the temptations with hope in receiving an eternal life, which we will receive from God--the crown of life.

4) a virtual belief that focuses on Jesus' sacrifice on the cross--truely understand why Jesus sacrifice Himself for us, why He has been through the day of atonement for us, recognize His deeds of redemption for us.

If we meet those requirements above, we would naturally desire to grow in the spirit without obligation, without condition, without reluctance. we'll enjoy walking in the discipline path because we know that this is a perfect path to become more like Christ.

It's an honor to be your mentor, let God helps us to become a matured Christian together. as you said, our faith couldn't grow mature by itself... it needs to be fed! --hope I can be a good instrument that God uses to develop brothers & sisters (and myslef) in term of spiritual grwoth at TMC.

Here again the wisdom from Fred... I think, it's very informative advice and interesting strategy to follow... YJ

In a letter dated 5/21/45 Fred writes to a friend about strategies for overcoming temptation. Although the specific situation isn’t identified, the principles apply to all of us. This wisdom came from a 30 year old Fred…63 years ago this week.

“I have thought a lot about our conversation and am still convinced I was right. But I don’t want to offer criticism without definite suggestions. I am reminded of the verse of scripture which says, “There has no temptation befallen you that is not common to man.” I believe your temptation is probably the most common. Actually, this makes it easier to find a cure. You made definite progress when you admitted to yourself the real cause.

Now the cure:

1. Here is my system for staying out of the booby trap you are in.
• Balance your life by establishing a program:
• Work
• Recreation
• Social Life
• Sleep

2. Stay busy on something you feel is worthy of your life. We are trading our life every hour for what we accomplish. Be a good trader.
• Associate with positive people who are achieving and getting a kick out of it. Last night I got a real lift out of Dr. Powell’s sermon (editor’s note: Dr. Powell was the Pastor of First Baptist Church where Fred and Mary Alice belonged.). I talked a little with him. And, I really didn’t want to go at first.
•Read some every day- I find it good to divide my “off the job” reading into three categories: Bible, current events, and inspirational stuff like biographies and “pep books.” Force yourself until these things become a habit and you have won.

The things I mention are not easy – if they were, everybody would be successful. They call for a price, sometimes a high one, but a balanced, successful, happy life is worthy any price. The very fact you are unhappy means you are not destined for mediocrity. Your better nature is rebelling against wanting to live in that state ---- move on. You have come to Kadesh Barnea. Yours ‘til the cows come home.

__________________________________________

Ask Fred

Dear Fred, How do I change my character into the man I desire to become?

Fred's Response:

I have seen three very effective ways to strengthen character:

1) associate with people of strong character...we have a tendency to become like those with whom we associate;
2) make as firm a decision as you can that right decisions strengthen character and wrong decisions weaken character. The more you believe this, the easier it will be to make right decisions.
3) Select a friend or small group as an accountability reference. As soon as you feel the temptation growing,
call your moral 911.

Yes... as Fred said... we need to force ourselves into a habit... this is what I'm trying to become too...

Observation: Fred put 'Bible' in the first kind of books in his advise here... the Bible is the great resource of balancing-life wisdom!!

Do you read the Bible today yet? --ask this simple question to yourself every day... and force yourself until this question become a habit! Shocked
