Thinking of you, P'Koh! hee hee...

Some people are obsessed with physical fitness—daily workouts, vitamins, organic food—in spite of the fact that our bodies keep ticking away in inevitable decline. In our twenties and thirties we think we’re invincible, but in the decades that follow, the eyesight starts to go, then the knees, then the mind. Let’s face it, trying to ensure long-lasting physical health is like trying to stem the tide with a pitchfork!

And while it is true that the older we get the worse we get physically, it doesn’t have to be that way spiritually. Believe it or not, it is possible to get better with age. It’s what the apostle Paul meant when he said, “Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Cor. 4:16).

Many of us fear aging with all the trouble it brings. But when we are gradually stripped of everything that props us up—whether wealth, independence, health, dignity, beauty, or all of the above—we are left with more and more of God. So no matter how old you are, it’s not too late to dig deep in God’s Word and invest more and more time in your spiritual well-being. You’ll see the payoffs, now and later. The older you get, the better you can become! — Joe Stowell

I totally agree with the message. The keyword is "obsessed". If you obsess with somthing else i.e. money, exercise, work, friend and etc. You tend to have those become your priority before God. If you have the hierarchy right, by putting God on top everything else will be in the right order.

As far as exercising, I also believe in exercising and streching as long as you're not obsessed about it. I currently do only 2 times a week which I want to do a little bit more, but I know my priority. The Bible also says that the body is the temple of God the Holy Spirit, it belongs to God and not to us (1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 2 Corinthians 6:16). The only time this "ownership" of the body is amended is in regard to marriage and the sexual union between husband and wife (1 Corinthians 7.4).

Because of what the Bible says about the body we are to take care of and not willingly harm it in any way nor destroy it for any reason (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Also, the Bible says that the christian cannot allow the physical body to be dominated by sin, particularly sin that is against the body (Romans 6:12; 1 Corinthians 6:13-20). To the contrary, Paul states in the Bible that, "according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death, " (Philippians 1:20).

Even though our bodies are for the glorification of God, the Bible says that because they are flesh they will not be suitable for an eternal existence in heaven (Philippians 3:21). Therefore, at the resurrection the Bible says that our physical, earthly bodies will be changed (1 Corinthians 15:35-54). As a result the Bible says of our heavenly existence, "They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; " {I 7} "for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, " (Revelation 7..16-17). The "new" bodies given to christians at the resurrection will be suitable in every way for the glorification of God in heaven throughout eternity. (excerpt from David Baker's point of view).

From the excerpt above as well as the the ODB's message I concur that the only thing we should be obssessed is our spiritual well-being.

Thanks Petch for bringing this up! Wink

I do agree with both messages you two quoted here...

The pinpoint of these conclusion is to balance your life base on God's will. We are all His creation, only one purpose He has done this marvelous work is to see all mankind give Him glory & worship Him day & night. Yet, He gives us a free-will to do things our own, to make our own decision, to choose what we want; however, He is still watching that we'll do it to give Him glory. most people who are not believe in God, not understand the purpose of their lives, nor even know they are His creation and refuse to live their lives to give Him honor and glory.

As Christians, we're called to give Him honor & glory by following His instructions & commands daily. because He creates us from His abundant love, He knows what is best for our lives. in our part, we should live our lives in good discernment, judge, honor, and serve the purpose He puts in us.

Once we understand why, and how... we'll naturally live out our lives in great faith, and will do everything to give God glory... physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. --especially, living spiritually is the greatest part we have to concern when we all live in this skeptical world.

Live healthy in every part of your life--that's the point to live out your faith in Christ.
